When people ask me what I do for a living, I tell them I'm a writer. Then the inevitable question follows:  "Really? What do you write?" I usually get about three words out of my mouth before they break in with something like, "You know, I'm so glad we ran into each other because people always tell me I should write a book since my life has been so FASCINATING that you just wouldn't BELIEVE it and the stories I could tell you ..." Uh huh. Or they say the most dreaded statement of all: "HEY, I wrote a book a while back but haven't done anything with it, maybe you could read it over and let me know what you think!"

Let me assure you that when I hear either of those statements
, I know it's time to
